Friends,
It is really nice to be off the chemo. I can
move around more easily, and don't have to drag an IV pole around with me.
I can range wider in the hospital, too, if I want. My thoughts were not exactly linear, unless I really concentrated. Weird thoughts were flying around in my head like randomly shooting arrows into the forrest. My head is much calmer now.
I had some problems with bleeding in my mouth. My tongue and lips are
pretty sore, making it hard to eat. I had some good soup for dinner that
was easy to eat. That was really helpful.
The cytogenetics finally came back normal. This means that they are
not seeing any know mutants that would complicate treatment. They are
still not sure if the leukemic cells are mine or donor cells. Chances of
the leukemia being donor cells are almost vanishingly small. More testing
will be required for that.
No transfusions today.
On the medical front - Yesterday I started getting feverish
again. I stood up too fast today and got a little dizzy. No jokes
please. This might have been because of the fever and dropping blood
pressure again. The cultures just came back and I have an infection again.
They put me on Levaquin last night but the fever didn't stop all day today
really. So they are bringing out the "big guns" of the antibiotic world,
Vancomycin. I react quite extremely to Vancomycin, getting something
called Redman Syndrome, where I turn red all over. Hopefully this will
kill the infection quickly and I can get off that soon.
