Friends!
Hello everyone! We had a relatively quick trip to the hospital today. My platelet count doubled!!! So I had another platelet transfusion. The doctor came in pretty late, just as we were finishing things up, so I talked to him and then we were out of the hospital by noon! Somehow I convinced him that they should check me out tomorrow, to see if we can get the platelet numbers up a little higher. This single digit stuff is a little unnerving. Hemoglobin firmed up a little bit, so no RBC transfusion today. My magnesium was a little low, so I got a dose of that while I was getting the platelets. My potassium was also low, but rather than subject me to 4 hours of potassium being pumped into me, they increased my dose of horse pills to three a day instead of two. Arrrrrg. Being at home is really nice on one hand, and kind of scary on the other. I am not stuck in a hospital room, of course, with the drying effects of the air conditioning and the constant sleep interruptions. I get to eat really good food cooked the way I like it. On the other hand, one wonders what kinds of germs I am getting exposed to throughout the house. Well, they haven't gotten me yet! They have to catch me first.
On the medical front, there is not much to tell. The lab results are positively negative. Just about everything is about where we want it to be. They count days of chemo from the first dose, so today is day 15. I think I started to recover last time at about day 21, so we will start looking for an upturn in my numbers about then.
