December 4, 2003, DAY #37

Friends,

Our time remains very busy. Sometimes I wonder where the days go. I walked to my doctors appointment today and back again. I still have the rash on my arms and hands, so the doctor is giving me some new medicine for it. I asked him what needed to be done to avoid these rashes. His response: "You and your brother need to learn how to get along". Pretty funny. I asked him how long it might take for my brother and I to learn to live together and he said probably six months to a year. Menchie and I went to a movie yesterday, Matrix Revolution. I really wanted to see it in the theaters. This is the first movie we have been to since June, at least. The doctors and nurses said we could go to movies as long as we went at a time when there weren't very many people around. We did good! There were two other people in the theater with us. My lab results are pretty good. RBC and HGB still creeping up in fits and starts. My energy level is improving correspondingly. The doctor is taking Monday off, so my next update should be on Tuesday.

On the medical front, some big changes. The doctor started me on Prednisone today to combat the rash. Unfortunately, one of the side effects is difficulty sleeping. I am already having a hard time sleeping, so this is not good news. Hopefully I won't be on that for very long. The plan to reduce the Celcept is on hold until the rash goes away. My creatinine went up a bit out of the normal range. This came on the day after the overnight hydration ended. I am drinking at least 3 liters per day, but I guess that is not enough. Magnesium dropped in spite of the nuts and the pills, so the doctor doubled my dose of magnesium.
