January 19, 2004 DAY #83
Friends,
Hello everybody! We are back in San Diego for a visit. Nothing broke this time! We hope to get some good R&R in here and take care of some business too. We had a great weekend! We went and saw the movie Master and Commander on Friday, and really enjoyed it. We just pretty much goofed off on Saturday. On Sunday we went on a hike! My first real honest to goodness post transplant wilderness hike. I guess you will laugh, but it was a 1.5 mile hike, round trip. Starting elevation was ~4000', with a 200' elevation gain. The hike was in Millard Canyon, along a stream to a 50 foot waterfall. Lots of easy scrambling over rocks and deadfalls, and numerous stream crossings. It seemed like about 1.5 miles to get to the falls to me on the way up. Funny thing though, on the way back (downhill) it didn't seem a foot over .75 miles. I was pretty beat, but felt good, and it was a VERY pretty hike. San Jacinto, here we come!
On the medical front, things are going well. The doctor was very happy with my numbers. They couldn't get anything out of my catheter again today, so they gave me something called TPA. After one hour, the catheter worked like a champ. Creatinine was still at 1.2. The doctor took me off Potassium and cut my morning dose of Magnesium in half. No problems! I think if I get through the next week or so, I will be moving back home to San Diego. That will be nice.
