January 8, 2004 DAY #72

Friends,

Good evening, everybody! We have been working hard on Work, Thank You notes, Wedding Pictures, and other little projects as well as just taking care of everyday needs. Lots of frustrating things going on in all these little projects, but we keep pressing on. Stress levels remain pretty high at times. Please be patient with us, we are grinding as fast as we can! It will be good to get lots of these little projects out of the way. I think we are going to take a day off tomorrow and just take a picnic lunch and leave for parts as yet unknown. Hopefully somewhere where there will be minimal interaction with people. We will also probably head to San Diego on Monday for a couple of days at home.

On the medical front, more interesting developments. Blood counts are becoming uninteresting mostly, as they remain at or near normal levels. They are dancing. Creatinine is back in the normal range. The edema in my legs and feet is getting more annoying, but my blood pressure was down quite a bit today, so my Norvasc dose has been cut in half. I hope that helps the discomfort a little. Unfortunately, my insurance company wouldn't let me buy the 5mg Norvasc, so now I have to figure out how to cut the Norvasc pills in half. Since my skin is still VERY clear of any rash, the doctor cut my Prednisone to 2 twice a day. That should help my disposition a little too. The doctor also told me today that all these chemos and medicines inhibit hormone production. He thinks this is funny I guess. He says I am going through male menopause, causing hot flashes and night sweats, so they gave me a testosterone shot. I guess they want me to be more manly. I asked the doctor (who has a receding hairline) if the testosterone would help the hair get growing in the front of my head as well as it is in the back. He didn't say anything, just grinned really big, like I had said something really funny. Go figure. They tested my PSA level also, but I don't have results back yet. That has something to do with the Testosterone also, but I don't know what. So to sum up, physically I am doing really well. Psychologically I want a vacation from Drugs, Rude Retailers, Grocery store picket lines, Doctors, Nurses, Hospitals, Illness, etc. Oh well, I will get through it. Everybody has been very supportive! Next report should be Monday.
