Friends,
It has been a few weeks since my last update so I thought I would write a little to everyone. We have been very busy in the last few weeks. I had a couple of doctor appointments a while back. One was with my eye surgeon. He was happy with my eyes. One was 20-25 and the other was 20-35. I am using reading glasses. The other appointment was with my dermatologist. I had two spots frozen off, and he biopsied two spots on my back that turned out to be basal cell carcinomas. I will be getting those removed after my dental appointment this week.
Menchie and I have been spending the last week in Mountainair. We have been attending the Deer Canyon HOA annual meeting, which went well. We also finished with the major remodeling of our bathroom in our house here. All the walls were up and textured when we arrived, so we primed and painted the walls, then primed the floor and laid vinyl tile. We had to pull the toilet to do that, but we got it done. Then we grouted the floor, placed the vanity and installed all the plumbing. Along the way we installed the pocket door, the overhead light fixture, and the light switch. We also did a lot of general cleaning, so we now have a garage full of boxes and old fixtures that we will get rid of over time. I also did some yard work. It has been a busy and rewarding trip.
We were on our way to Albuquerque today and as soon as we had cell phone coverage, I discovered I had a message on my business phone. I interviewed for a project management job in Colorado Springs last week so I was hoping it was them. It turns out that it was my boss, and they gave me my termination notice today. I guess I will be out of work in less than two weeks, unless I find something else to do there in that time.
When we got home, I discovered that I didn’t get the job in Colorado Springs too. However, at the HOA meeting, I also got an offer to sell solar systems on full commission. I talked to the manager of the company this evening for a while to explore the possibility. I would be able to do this from my home in Mountainair, but it is a very scary prospect at this point. They may also be needing a manager for a new project they expect to start in a few months too, and I gave them my resume about that.
I guess I am entering a new phase in my life, now. We will be putting my house on the market when we get home, and hope that we can either get the bank to accept a short sale, or accept the house in a Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure proceeding. We would then move to Mountainair. I will continue to look for a job, of course.
On a somewhat more positive note, I will be getting my new teeth on Thursday, and as I mentioned earlier, I will be getting surgery after the dental work. The only problem I have with all that is how I am going to pay for the dentistry. I think I mentioned that in my last update. We will figure something out. We always seem to. Anyway, it will be nice to be able to eat normally again. It is hard eating with only your front teeth. Try it some time and you will see what I mean. Anyway, this will clear up the last of my major problems associated with my treatments. I still get Rituxan and take Cell-Cept every day, and I still have the neuropathy in my feet. I am also still getting physical therapy for my shoulder, but it is much better, almost normal now in my opinion. Since I am loosing my job, I guess I will be loosing my insurance too, so I don’t know how much longer I will be getting those treatments. I will be talking to my doctor about that, I guess.
We hope you are all well!
Ted
