November 12, 2003, DAY #15
Friends,
Well, the increasing numbers from the lab results are getting almost boring. A pretty huge jump today. WBC and PLT are now in the normal range. Hopefully, the RBC and HGB numbers will catch up soon. I have been doing a lot of walking. I went for a brisk 1/2 hour walk this morning, I walked to the cafeteria with Menchie and Kathleen, and then I walked to X-ray and back. This afternoon, I am feeling very tired. Seems to be a pattern. Still eating, but not with much interest. My catheter site is much better and I got the last Vancomycin treatment today. That makes me feel great. Maybe I will start feeling better if I don't have to tolerate Vanco and Benadryl twice a day.
On the medical front, as I mentioned, I am now off Vancomycin. I am starting a new drug called Mepron that helps prevent pneumonia. This is a liquid that is taken orally. I am in a transition period where I am recovering from the chemotherapy and starting to be at risk for Graft Vs Host (GVH) disease. They are watching me very closely for rashes, fevers, and kidney or liver problems.
