November 22, 2006 , Day 36

Friends,

Good Evening! We had another busy day today. The Physical Therapist came early, so we went out for a walk. We were half way around the loop and I started getting dizzy. I returned to my room in a wheelchair. That was pretty depressing. We finished my exercises regardless. I had to. It isn't very hard anyway. Later in the morning I had a bone marrow biopsy. The purpose of the biopsy is to check to see if the transplant has been successful. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the biopsy, the doctor drills into the hip bone and sucks some bone marrow out. Drilling down to the bone is relatively painless due to the lidocane. Drilling through the bone is also pretty painless, but sucking out the marrow can be excruciating, or painless. There doesn't seem to be any reason behind it. Today, my biopsy was in the mid range. There was some pain, but it wasn't very intense. I was happy about that. Since then I have just been resting and sleeping. Today has been a hard day. Last night I must have bit my lip. It was all bloody this morning. It was only a surface wound and seems like it is healing well. We are still waiting for my mouth to heal enough that I can eat real food. My mouth is still improving, just not as fast as we would like.

Blood levels continue to float in the same area. No transfusions today. Platelets went up a little.
