November 25, 2006 , Day 39
Friends,
We hope everyone had a great day today. My day was one of experiment and continued progress toward my goals. Our consultations with the dietitians seem to have started to pay off. We are starting to sort out what is here and what I can eat. I had some vegetable soup today with a tomato base, but it was painful to eat due to the tomatoes. The dietitian also had a meal pureed for me. I think it was some chicken with noodles. It wasn't very successful as a puree, but I ate some of it. The baby food green beans weren't bad though. Menchie went out and got some fruit purees and some other soups that we are going to try. I have graduated to baby food!! I am no longer being fed intravenously, so I need to be sure to get enough calories every day.
One of the last steps before I can go home is to be off IV drugs. Right now I am on one, mainly. That is cyclosporine. Cyclosporine comes as a pill also, so I think tomorrow I will be starting the pill form of cyclosporine. Once the dose is adjusted to keep the level right, maybe I will be going home. Anyway, it is a step in the right direction.
The Physical Therapist visit was good. I got all the way around the atrium today. I am starting to get my confidence back. Hopefully I will continue to improve in this area too.
I got the sleeping pill yesterday and was out like a light shortly after sending my update. Next thing I knew it was 6am and time to get weighed. What a wonderful relief. Hopefully this process will repeat and I will start getting adequate sleep. I suspect getting sleep might speed my recovery some too, so this is all pretty positive from my perspective.
