November 6, 2003, DAY #9
Friends,
I was right! I got platelets this morning at 0630 this morning after a refreshing night of sleep. The new mattress is great! My platelets didn't go up much, so they are going to give me some more later this afternoon. The other good news is the WBC count, which jumped to .6. This is a good indication, if it is sustainable, that I have "started". In other areas of good news, I talked to a transmission shop about my jeep. He says that it sounds like a cooling hose broke, and could be a fairly minor repair.
On the medical front, good news with the WBC count. As would be expected from my experience, the others dropped. If the new cells really get cranking, the next to respond would be the platelets. The doctors and nurses are very pleased overall with my condition on day 9. They say that most of the patients are pretty sick at this point, with fatigue, lots of pain in the mouth and throat, as well as other skin, liver and kidney problems. I feel real good, having none of that!
