Friends,

A quick update this morning before we head out to City of Hope hospital for a doctors appointment. Tuesday we had a routine visit to Scripps Green Hospital. We had blood drawn and saw the doctor. Not much exciting or interesting. The only thing unusual was a kidney test that involved saving urine for 24 hours. We dropped off 3 liters of urine at the lab. We didn't get the blood test results until Wednesday. They are shown below. Wednesday was a busy day at the hospital too. I had a pulmonary function test. That was pretty interesting, and I was normal. How boring! Then down to Cardiology for an echocardiogram. Looking at my heart pumping away was pretty neat. They have a dopplar setting which shows motion in different colors. When looking at the left ventrical you could see blood coming into it, colored orange, then pumping out colored blue. Pretty neat stuff! Finally, down to radiology for a CT scan. Another interesting process. I had to get an IV put in. After getting stuck in 4 places, they finally got a vein in the back of my hand. The Barium Sulfide drinks were a lot of fun too! Yeacchhhhh! Now we are on our way to City of Hope. I hope to send another update tonight or tomorrow morning.

On the medical front, the hemoglobin is way up. I have been feeling good, and getting around a lot more. I can get through an entire day of activities without feeling exhausted. Tuesday's lab results are below.
