Friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. We had another short visit to the hospital today. We were out by 1020 today! The lab results came back quickly, and they expected a platelet transfusion to be required so they ordered it early. It only takes about 25 minutes to push a unit of platelets, and the doctor came in fairly early. They took a stool sample a few days ago, and the results came in today. They detected some clostridium toxins. Clostridium is an oportunistic infection that occurs when antibiotics are being given. Clostridium is resistant to most antibiotics so sterner measures are required, described below. If not treated, Clostridium can cause severe colitis. I am not suffering with that right now, fortunately. It has otherwise been a lazy day. I don't have to go in tomorrow, so I will write the next update on Wednesday.

On the medical front, things are still going well. To combat the Clostridium infection I am now taking a drug called Flagyl three times a day. This is one of two antibiotics that Clostridium is NOT immune to. My lab results look real good, and I get the day off tomorrow.
