Friends,
Today's trip to the hospital was hardly uneventful. City of Hope hospital wanted an EKG, Chest X-ray and a bunch of other blood work. I started out going to the EKG machine in the Cardiac unit. My EKG was normal. The chest X-ray was next, followed shortly by a blood draw in the "Treatment Room". I think I will be getting more familiar with this room as time goes on. Today was my first visit there. From there, Menchie and I went to lunch and lounged around until we were called into the Doctor's office to get the Bone Marrow Biopsy done. The doctors there were concerned that my hemoglobin is still dropping. So am I. I will be going back in to the hospital on Tuesday to get another blood test and a transfusion if necessary. This explains why I have been so tired lately, though. I was joking around (who me???) with the doctor who did the biopsy, and he said that maybe my bone marrow isn't producing the right kinds of cells. This didn't seem too funny to me, and he looked a little chagrined after he said that. I hope that is not the case. I can hardly wait for the biopsy results. Those will come sometime next week, probably on Wednesday, unless I am lucky. Also on Wednesday, I pick up all of my medical records, biopsy results, xrays and lab results since day one to take up to City of Hope. I have an appointment there on Thursday, for an initial consultation. While there, I hope to find out more about my future! For example, about what will be happening next, and when. I expect the next update will be on Tuesday.
On the medical front, WBC and PLT number continue to rise to high levels. RBC and Hemoglobin continue to drop slowly.
