September 4, 2004 DAY #305
Friends,
An off schedule health update is never good news, right? I have developed a case of shingles on my back. I visited the doctor today at Scripps Green Hospital and he put me on a medication called Famvir, an anti-viral medication for ten days. Two of the side effects of Famvir are fatigue and nausea. I seem to be experiencing some of both. The shingles are mildly uncomfortable unless something comes in contact with them, like my shirt, or a sheet, or the car seat, which creates a burning sensation that is quite unpleasant. We hope to get the shingles cured quickly, as it can cause a permanent, painful neuropathy, apparently feeling like a cold sore that won't go away.
Other than that, things are going great! Menchie and I went to a tailgate party at Petco Park, and then enjoyed the baseball game until the Rockies blew it wide open. We are going to another ball game tomorrow, courtesy of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which received some donated tickets from Ryan Klesko, I think. Next week I will be speaking to the San Diego Combined Federal Campaign Loaned Executives about The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and what the society means to me.
I have not received any lab results from my Thursday lab visit yet. I am very curious what the results were.
Please have a great, safe Labor Day Weekend!
